We continue to be in the wild west of no commuting, no set hours and for some braver than most workers, no alarm. And if you fall into this last bracket then what I’m about to say I hope I get your full support in. While routine has all but fell apart and style websites were quick to jump on WFH outfits inspiration and advice, is it wrong to suggest that perhaps it is okay to do a double shift in loungewear?

I’ve read a lot about how important it is to properly get changed to start your day, but if we’re struggling with poor internet connection and failed group zoom calls - yes, there’s still someone who fails to realise they are on mute - we might as well do it in our most comfortable attire. I think we can loosen up on what we’re wearing above the screen as well as down. And if you’re in the upper echelon of cashmere, then why settle for fabrics that don’t let you think about crashing on your sofa when you feel like it. I think there is an element of mind over matter when it comes to working and that partly comes down to being a freelance and having the flexibility of choosing when I work and when I don’t. But if things needs to get done, they I’ll do it regardless of what I’m wearing and I think too much is said about what you’re wearing impacting on work ethic.

I think you’re either in two camps when it comes to clothes around the house. You’ve either retired items you used to wear out the house for strictly inside activities or you go and purpose buy house clothes with the one aim of ultimate comfort. I reckon we’ve all been in the first camp, but then why just get by with a t-shirt or bottoms that you have deemed no longer worthy of wearing outside. You’ve already given it a negative label. So that’s when you begin to crossover into the thought process of if you have got a hoodie and a pair of tracksuit bottoms that make you forget everything you were wearing before, then surely this is the best route? But by all means, carry on wearing that shrunk t-shirt with the hole in that you make excuses for because nobody can see it.jbicon
