Summer tailoring

When temperatures get hot, but you still want to keep it formal, it's important to learn what will suit the summer months.

Barcelona, a city that has escaped me until now, but one I’ll be returning to many more times to come. The colours and rustic feel of the city makes me feel relaxed and takes me back to memories of childhood holidays. For one morning it acted as the backdrop for some imagery for Paul Smith. I’m helping them with some stills around this linen suit (a dream to wear) and wanted to share some highlights. Navy, unlined and perfect for summer. I’ve kept the more suit focused ones for them, so consider this the b-roll which has too much of my face in... I’m no Paul Smith modelBrittany was also working on some tailoring content while we were out there together, so why not fuse the two?

Also, a few words on summer suiting if you've not just come over for the photos. Try and stick to light colours as shown here; a black or dark grey suit is asking for trouble if the sun is beating down. Then to keep extra cool in the heat, an unlined blazer will be sans of all unnecessary weight while still looking the part. Plus, depending on the occasion, you could copy Brittany's approach to suiting and wear sandals, a clever way of keeping your body temperature down. These suit snippets might help you out when you find yourself somewhere like Barcelona and casual attire doesn't cut it.jbicon
